When you go diving two important things happen to your ears. First, the external auditory canal (Otis External) fills up with sea water. Secondly, your eardrums (Timpanic Membranes) are exposed to pressures they are not used to. Irritation of the eardrums and the presence of fungus and bacteria in the outer ear are often causes for ear trouble. And, as every experienced diver knows, ear trouble means: STOP DIVING!.

You can prevent this problem by taking care of your ears the proper way while you are on a diving holiday. At Seaquest we take care of you, so we also take care of your ears!

First, clean your ears with fresh water after each dive. Do NOT use Q-tips, cotton-buds or what else they call them to clean your ears. Just supply a few ear drops and let them sit there for a few minutes. During wet and windy boat rides after diving, cover your ears with a towel (the top part of a bikini also seems to do the job) to prevent cooling down your ears too much.

Seaquest's ear drops are made of 80 parts Isopropyl Alcohol (75% or more), 10 parts distilled water, 5 parts glycerin and five parts medicinal vinegar. A few drops after each dive have proven to be a perfect remedy against ear trouble. Order them at your local pharmacy, make them yourself, or borrow the bottle in the dive shop!
